Hello! As of 11/08: I'm a non-traditional student who wanted to teach art, until No Child Left Behind dashed that dream.
My educational goals are still malleable; as I encounter new fields of study, I am tailoring much of it to my ultimate goal: a mobile art program that utilizes digital technology to bring the development of creative intelligence and critical thinking to schools which have lost the funding/freedom for this vital aspect of student development. Rather than going the route of getting a degree in secondary education, I have decided to pursue Publishing as a major, as grant writing will be a key skill for attaining backing. After getting a degree in Publishing (with a focus on New Media) I will apply to grad school, and if I am still sane enough, I will head in the direction of a Phd. The plan: gain the skills needed to teach at the collegiate level. It's complicated. Questions? Ask!
Just a heads up to visitors or folks who stop by regularly...
I've finally finished my semester (woot! Another inch closer to a perfect 4.0 GPA) so college chaos has calmed. Now I have to get crackin' on planning my Oct 25th wedding! I planned my niece's a few years back and swore *never* again to go through this. Ah well.
We're having a Steampunk theme! Yippie! Not sure what that is? Think League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or go visit abneypark.com[abneypark.com] to get a feel for the style. If anyone out there has any good sources for clothing retailers or even a source for anyone who will hand make my outfit and not charge me an insane amount of money, please send me a message! So far, finding clothing I like is the hardest part. I don't want to look like a tart, but I also don't want to look too stuffy. I need sassy and classy at the same time!
I'm pretty sure the place we are set to see on Tue. will win out as THE location. It's an old firehouse that has been converted into a restaurant and banquet hall. It just seems too perfect--it still has the look of when it was built in the early 1900's. The menu looks delicious too.
So...if you don't see any new posts for awhile, or if you send a message and don't hear back soon, it's because I am likely on my phone--or two phones at once--or out meeting people about various other details.
