Hello! I'm a net surfing junkie. This Stumbling thing is addictive! I'm a non-traditional student at this ripe ol' age, who wanted to teach art, until No Child Left Behind dashed that dream. Now, I'm not quite sure what I want to do when I grow up (more) though I will likely end up in digital design of some form. I'm still teetering however, and suspect I may end up getting a masters and then PHD, so I can teach at a college level.
For the record, I'm notorious for my tyops. :P

From the page: "Now, analysis of proteins found in a scrap of collagen from a 68-million-year-old Tyrannosaurus rex leg bone provides strong evidence for the idea that dinosaurs are the ancestors of modern-day birds." Tune into this NPR interview with one of the scientists.
An article can be found here: sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080424140418.htm [sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080424140418.htm]
I remember when the dino-bird hypothesis was first discussed. At the time I had an amazing little quaker parrot that I used to call "my little therapod." Link or no, he thought he was as big as a T-rex sometimes. :D

IMHO the last thing anyone psycho enough to be offended this needs is caffeine. Go ahead boycott them and please boycott any other place I might happen to be at too. They had better damn well never go to a museum of fine art. Rampant nekkid-ness there. I couldn't resist snagging this comment from another blog post about this:
Jen Phillips at MoJo blog notes, "The fact that Dice doesn't get the difference between a fin and a foot may be an example of what abstinence-only funding does to education."
There's a van that drives around in my little city with the image of a mostly naked, bloody, dead guy on it. It's really graphic and rather gross; I promise not to patronize their place either.

Just a heads up to visitors or folks who stop by regularly...
I've finally finished my semester (woot! Another inch closer to a perfect 4.0 GPA) so college chaos has calmed. Now I have to get crackin' on planning my Oct 25th wedding! I planned my niece's a few years back and swore *never* again to go through this. Ah well.
We're having a Steampunk theme! Yippie! Not sure what that is? Think League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or go visit abneypark.com [abneypark.com] to get a feel for the style. If anyone out there has any good sources for clothing retailers or even a source for anyone who will hand make my outfit and not charge me an insane amount of money, please send me a message! So far, finding clothing I like is the hardest part. I don't want to look like a tart, but I also don't want to look too stuffy. I need sassy and classy at the same time!
I'm pretty sure the place we are set to see on Tue. will win out as THE location. It's an old firehouse that has been converted into a restaurant and banquet hall. It just seems too perfect--it still has the look of when it was built in the early 1900's. The menu looks delicious too.
So...if you don't see any new posts for awhile, or if you send a message and don't hear back soon, it's because I am likely on my phone--or two phones at once--or out meeting people about various other details.

Another animated story from the This American Life on TV. A man recounts when his classmates in grade school made fake TV cameras--and how it changed everyone's behavior. This is from last season on Showtime. Tune into the radio version at thislife.org [thislife.org] or buy the past season for a 1.99 per episode on iTunes. I bought the past season on iTunes and it was so darned good that I watched them all in one night.
